The Honduras Life Center orphanage (HLC) is currently being constructed in Peña Blanca, approximately 1.5 hours from San Pedro Sula. The HLC will be home to children who are in need, who have no place to call home, and who need the love of Jesus Christ. It will provide housing, food, health care, mentoring, skills training, and educational support for each and every child that enters.
We have already rescued 6 children in Honduras who are being cared for by a Honduran family in a home near the HLC. Once the first home on the property of the HLC is completed, these 6 children will move in and have continued love and support like they deserve. The property is large enough for at least six children’s homes, where one day, we will have the opportunity to rescue over 100 children.
This would not be possible without teams that come to help build the homes and care for the children. The children’s needs are met exceeded thanks to the donations of sponsors, HLC Partners and the visiting mission teams.
Who does the HLC benefit?
The HLC currently cares for 6 children, but will care for many more once the homes are completed. The children currently living at the HLC range in age from 10-16 but children of all ages will be cared for at the HLC. The HLC provides a consistent, reliable, and nurturing environment for children who have spent so much of their lives in fear. It gives them a chance to rest, to heal, and to start living as children again.
What can you expect as a short-term missionary?
Mission teams who travel to Honduras will have the privilege to be a part of the groundwork construction of the HLC. Teams will not only be participating in construction, but will also spend time with the children who have already been rescued and are living in our children’s home close to the HLC property. Lastly, teams will participate in Sidewalk Sunday School outreach to hundreds of children in local villages and schools.
